An Efficient Algorithm for Solving an Air Traffic Management Model of the National Airspace System

چکیده
Introduction: The NAS is the infrastructure that supports the 60000 daily flights over the United States. The hub and spoke operations of various airlines has changed traffic patterns and contributed significantly to congestion and delay in the NAS. Growth of air traffic, matching or exceeding growth in capacity and occasional bad weather, has added to this congestion and delay. Air traffic delay has been a subject of research for many years. In this paper, a large integer-programming model for minimizing air traffic delay has been presented. Solving problem instances arising from this model involves use of preprocessing, constraint strengthening, and a carefully designed computer implementation.

Conflict Detection and Resolution in Air Traffic Management Based on Graph Coloring Problem Using Imperialist Competitive Algorithm
In aviation industry, considering more freedom in the selection and modification of flight paths during flight time is a new challenge, which is known as free flight. The free flight concept alters the current centralized and command-control airspace system (between air traffic controllers and pilots) to a distributed system that allows pilots choose their own flight paths more efficient and op...
متن کاملAgent-Based Modeling and Simulation of Collaborative Air Traffic Flow Management Using Brahms
The air traffic demand on the US national airspace frequently exceeds its available capacity. In current operations, the Air Traffic Service Provider designs and implements air traffic management initiatives with minimal interaction with the airlines. NASA and its partners have developed a new collaborative air traffic flow management concept of operations that involves the users of the airspac...
متن کاملA Sectorization Method for Dynamic Airspace Configuration
The Dynamic Airspace Configuration (DAC) concept requires strategically organizing and efficiently allocating airspace. In the current National Airspace System (NAS), sector boundaries have been developed heuristically over decades in light of historical data and analysis. In our previous efforts, a graph model based on air route structure was developed to model the en-route airspace over the U...
متن کاملAn efficient numerical method for singularly perturbed second order ordinary differential equation
In this paper an exponentially fitted finite difference method is presented for solving singularly perturbed two-point boundary value problems with the boundary layer. A fitting factor is introduced and the model equation is discretized by a finite difference scheme on an uniform mesh. Thomas algorithm is used to solve the tri-diagonal system. The stability of the algorithm is investigated. It ...

The purpose of this research is to present a new mathematical modeling for a vehicle routing problem considering concurrently the criteria such as distance, weight, traffic considerations, time window limitation, and heterogeneous vehicles in the reverse logistics network for collection of expired products. In addition, we aim to present an efficient solution approach according to differential ...
